Beauty is your confidence and your hair is one of the most important parts of your beauty. If you’re dreaming of having perfect, long, thick and lustrous hair, which is very high on every woman’s wish list, but dust, pollution, sun, dirt etc. makes it almost impossible to achieve, just turn away from the chemical treatments available in the market and pick some daily habits. So how do you combat all these problems while still keeping hair healthy and strong? Here’s a list which you can follow from the comfort of your home.

  1. Eat the right food and take your vitamins

Diet plays a very important part in the overall health of our hair. So here are some tips as per your hair type. People with normal hair should add fish, chicken, dals, sprouts to their diet, people with dry hair should add raw vegetables, pulses, brown rice, bananas, nuts, vitamin E capsules and people with oily hair should add green leafy vegetables, salads, fresh fruits, yogurt to their diet.

  1. Start avoiding heat styling

Honestly, you have to use them quite sometimes, but you have no idea how much damage it causes to your hair. So while using the hot tools like blow dryers, curling irons, wands, hot rollers etc., always try using a spray-in heat protectant. Hairstylist also recommends steam rollers which do not get overly warm and are gentle to hair.

  1. Sleep healthy and sleep on silk

When the body is deprived of any of anything necessary for it to function at optimal levels it will shut down all the production of unnecessary functions such as growing hair. So besides proper nutrition, vitamins, fresh air and hydration, it is essential to get at least 7hours of consistent and restful sleep in order to maintain a healthy head of hair. So for others tasks stop cutting down your sleeping hours, and always try to sleep on silk as the smooth texture of silk won’t rough your hair cuticle the way cotton does. Sleeping on silk will leave you with smoother hair in return.

  1. Know the right amount of product to use and where to use it and stay loyal to it

While applying shampoo or conditioner to your hair, if you instead of concentrating the shampoo on the first few inches of hair are covering your entire head then you’re doing it wrong. Your ends don’t need cleansing as much the first few inches of hair at the scalp where you get the most oil and product buildup. As for conditioner, work it to the area which is dry and prone to spilt ends- the mid-shaft to the ends. And switching up your hair care brands never keeps your hair healthier because it never gets time to adapt. So find the perfect combination that leaves you with killer strands and stick with it.

  1. Keep your hair clean and limit your time in the sun

Use quality hair-care products that benefit from frequent washing and preserve your natural oil. Wash in every few days if you live in dry climate or in rural environment that is away from pollution but if you live in a city with pollution wash your hair daily. Your hair suffers a lot in the sun so start using sun protection by applying a leave-in conditioner, it will combat damage from UV rays, wind, and saltwater.
